What does the Option Names attribute check?

Whether a product's variant option names, such as Size, Color or Material, match the condition you set. It tests the option labels, not the values within them.

How is Option Names different from Option Values?

Option Names tests the option itself, for example 'has an option called Size'. Option Values tests the choices inside it, for example 'has a variant whose value is XL'.

What is a practical use?

Grouping or separating configurable products: a managed collection of everything with a Size option, or demoting products that carry an Engraving option in a gifting collection where lead time matters.
