Product Pinning

Product Pinning allows merchants to fix specific products to designated positions within a collection. Unlike Boost, which applies ranking adjustments globally, Pinning ensures a product stays in a set position in a specific collection, with the algorithm adjusting other product placements around it.

  • Collection-Specific: A pinned product remains in its designated position in that collection only.

  • Overrides Algorithmic Sorting: The algorithm fills in other positions around pinned products.

  • Consistent Placement: Each time Dynasort updates the collection, the pinned product remains locked in place.

  • Feature Key Products – Ensure top-selling or strategic items always appear in prominent positions.

  • Maintain Brand or Category Balance – Control product distribution within a collection.

  • Combine Manual & Automated Merchandising – Get the best of both worlds with fixed placements and dynamic ranking.

  • Navigate to the Collections tab.

  • Select the collection where you want to pin a product.

  • Locate the product and click the empty pin icon to activate pinning.

  • Use the drag-and-drop interface to move the product to the desired position.

  • Click Save, and Dynasort will maintain this placement during future updates.

Frequently asked questions

What does product pinning do?

Pinning locks a product to a chosen position in one collection. Every time Dynasort re-sorts that collection, the pinned product stays in place and the algorithm ranks all other products around it.

Does a pin apply to every collection the product is in?

No. Pins are collection-specific. To raise a product everywhere, use Boost instead.

How do I pin a product in Dynasort?

Open the Collections tab, select the collection, click the empty pin icon on the product, drag it to the position you want and click Save. Dynasort keeps that placement on every future update.

Do pins survive automatic re-sorts and sort rotation?

Pins survive every recipe re-sort. During a Sort Rotation, pins are only honoured on Dynasort recipe steps, because Shopify's own sort orders do not support pinned products.
