How Dynasort Works

Dynasort is a smart collection merchandising tool for Shopify merchants, designed to automate and optimize how products are arranged within collections.

At its core, Dynasort allows merchants to create Recipes, which are customized sets of rules that determine product rankings. Each Recipe assigns weights to specific Attributes—such as price, sales performance, inventory levels, or new arrivals—to score and rank products dynamically.

  1. Sync store data: Dynasort continuously updates product and collection data using Shopify’s APIs and webhooks.
  2. Define attributes: Merchants set up attributes that define product importance, like “Best Sellers” or “New Arrivals.”
  3. Build a recipe: Merchants create Recipes that assign weight values to these attributes.
  4. Sort and apply: Dynasort calculates total scores for each product in a collection, ranks them, and updates the collection order automatically.
  5. Optional handling: Move out-of-stock products to the bottom and set tie breakers based on sales, inventory, or price.
  6. Automated updates: Sorting runs on a schedule based on your plan (typically every 10–60 minutes).
  7. Seamless integration: When a collection is managed by Dynasort, it overrides Shopify’s default sorting. If disabled, Shopify’s native sorting resumes.
  • Data-driven decisions: Collections stay optimized based on real-time store metrics.
  • Saves time: Eliminates manual product arrangement.
  • Boosts sales: Surfaces high-performing products to increase conversions.
  • Customizable and scalable: Flexible sorting logic for small or large catalogs.

Frequently asked questions

What does Dynasort do?

Dynasort is a Shopify app that automates collection merchandising. It scores every product in a collection against a recipe, a set of weighted attributes such as sales, conversion rate, inventory and price, then pushes the ranked order to Shopify and keeps it updated automatically.

What is a recipe in Dynasort?

A recipe is a named set of ranking rules. Each rule is an attribute with a point weight, for example 30 points for best sellers and 10 points for new arrivals. Dynasort adds up the points each product earns and sorts the collection by total score. See Recipes.

How often does Dynasort re-sort collections?

Every 10 to 60 minutes depending on plan: every 60 minutes on Demo, 30 on Basic, 20 on Pro and 10 on Enterprise. Sorting runs on a schedule, so a data change shows up in the collection order on the next run.

What happens to Shopify's own sort order when Dynasort manages a collection?

While a collection is enabled in Dynasort, its ranked order replaces Shopify's default sorting. Disable the collection and Shopify's native sorting resumes, using the revert sort order you chose such as Best selling or Manual.

Does Dynasort need shopper data before it can sort?

No. The moment you enable a collection, Dynasort sorts it on catalog signals it already has: stock status, price, inventory level, tags, sales and more. Behaviour signals such as conversion rate and add-to-cart rate improve as your store collects data. See What to Expect After Install.

Which parts of a Shopify store can Dynasort rank?

Collections, product options and swatches, storefront search results, product recommendation rows and post-purchase offers on the order confirmation page. All of them are driven by recipes, so one ranking logic can run everywhere.
