Recipes

Recipes are the foundation of Dynasort’s collection sorting process. They define how products are ranked by assigning values to specific Attributes and tallying total scores to determine order.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Dynasort recipe?

A recipe is the ranking logic for a collection: a list of attributes, each with a point value. Dynasort scores every product against each attribute, adds up the points and sorts the collection from highest to lowest total.

What settings does a recipe have besides attributes?

Whether it is the default recipe applied automatically, whether product Boost values are used, how sold-out products are handled, and tie breakers such as inventory, sales or price for products with equal scores.

What is a tie breaker in a recipe?

The rule that orders products with identical scores. Collection recipes can break ties by inventory, sales or price; search recipes default to Shopify relevance so results on a new store match Shopify's order until data accumulates.

Are there different types of recipes?

Yes: collection recipes for collection sorting and managed collections, search recipes for Search Re-ranking, and recommendation recipes for Product Recommendations and post-purchase offers.

Can I use the same attribute more than once in a recipe?

Yes. Add multiple instances with different settings, for example Full Size Run for size and again for colour, or a high-weight 3-day Back In Stock instance alongside a low-weight 30-day one.
